At Little Lessons, we take education seriously and all of our lessons are planned with care and attention, specific to the needs and abilities of each child. Our educational planning is in-line with the British National Curriculum and our teachers have years of experience preparing children for school readiness and a variety of school assessments including 4+, 7+, and 11+.

We specialise in the teaching of English and Mathematics.

We also specialise in teaching children with English as an additional language and supporting children lacking in confidence. Our teachers are fully qualified, highly experienced, and have enhanced DBS checks. Our approach is traditional, professional, and kind.

Promoting a love of reading

Pre Reception and Reception lessons

Our planning for this age group is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage, we teach across all 7 areas of learning. A new EYFS curriculum has been introduced by the Department of Education in September 2021 and our teachers are fully trained on the detail of the new curriculum and all updates.

Our main focus during the group lessons will be phonics, literacy, and numeracy.

year 1 and year 2

Our lessons for this age group incorporate fun with academic structure.

Our lessons focus on guided reading, comprehension, writing, handwriting, and phonics. We also plan numeracy activities, with a focus on number recognition and simple mathematical calculations. We use careful assessments to track each child’s progress and we tailor our lessons accordingly.

Spelling and grammar visual support

Year 3 and year 4 lessons

The lesson plans for this age group are more rigorous. We focus on comprehension work, spelling, and creative writing. We also work on numeracy skills, especially times tables, fractions, and telling the time, as children tend to find these mathematical areas the most challenging to master.
